Every few years I talk to Harold Goddijn, the CEO of TomTom. He is controlling a rollercoaster! In part 1 we talk about the current business, namely sharply declining device sales, selling the hugely successful telematics division, growing automotive sales and the core mapping group. The personal navigation devices for consumers is now only €250M (from more then €1 billion) and still declines 20% a year. They are selling the telematics business which is marketleader and tracks 1 million trucks and has €200m in sales. If you have €1 billion lying around then this might be interesting. The mapping business is growing fast and he discusess the competition with HERE & Google. Even though Nissan/Renault are in bed with google there is strong growth. Watch part one below:
